DENTAL PROCEDURES: We strongly believe
in the importance of good dental preventation at home. At Mill Pond
Veterinary Hospital we examine the teeth on your pets' yearly
physical examination. Based on the amount of gingivitis, plaque and
dental disease we will make recommendations. We may educate you on
the options available for at home care or the dental problems may
require a dental cleaning with extractions prior to your ability to
help at home. Our hospital is equipped with a state of the
art air driven dental station that makes all dental procedures
easier for the doctor and her patient.
LASER SURGERY: Mill Pond Veterinary
Hospital is one of a few veterinary hospitals in the state of
Connecticut that offer laser surgery to their patients. All feline
declaws are done by laser only. The laser allows greater
flexibility and options in the surgery room. Many warts,
papillomas, and small growths can be removed from your pet with a
local anesthetic and the laser. The laser may assist in other major
surgeries also. Using the laser has the benefit of decreasing pain
and decreasing bleeding. Dr. Yarrow has been doing laser
surgery for about six years. She is a consultant for a laser
company and was travelling and teaching veterinarians the
proper way to do laser surgery.
ACUPUNCTURE: Dr. Carter is
Certified in Veterinary Acupucture. She spent a year under the
guidance of Dr. Schoen learning even more.Acupuncture
can truly help a painful pet in many ways. At Mill Pond
Veterinary Hopsital we feel that traditional medicine does not hold
all the answers and one should practice with your pets' well being
in mind whether it be traditional, acupuncture, holistic, or a
combination of modalities.Dr. Carter sees referrals and tailors a
program that will complement your regular veterinarians'
care.
